Welcome to Faith, Health, and Love!  So happy to have you here!

My name is Katie.  I am a mom to three beautiful children, a wife to a very patient man, and I work part-time at a licensed in-home daycare as a preschool teacher.  I have been wanting to start a blog for quite some time now and decided to just go for it.  It is definitely out of my comfort zone because I am quite an introvert!

Things I enjoy

  • Reading and learning about healthy living, nutrition, and fitness
  • Reading (some of my favorite authors are Jodi Picoult, Diane Chamberlain, James Patterson, Elin Hilderbrand, and many more I could keep listing!)
  • Working on crafts, especially crocheting
  • Hanging out with my family in any way possible
  • Going for walks
  • Working out – I love yoga, pilates, and HIIT workouts
  • Going on dates with my hubby
  • Binge watching shows on Netflix and Hulu
  • Sunflowers are my favorite
  • I fully believe chocolate makes life better

I chose the name Faith, Health, and Love for my blog for two reasons.  First, one of my favorite bible scriptures is 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”  Second, my faith, my health and the health of my family, and the love of my family and friends are the most important parts of my life.

Faith

I am a Christian woman.  My faith is a very important part of my life.  I will be sharing things that help me with my faith such as scripture that I find inspirational, books I am reading that are helping me with my faith walk, inspiration from sermons at church, and more.

Health

I am a health nut.  I love learning about ways to improve my health and the health of my family.  I will be sharing healthy living and nutrition info and fitness tips that I find helpful.  I will also be sharing healthy recipes and much more that will hopefully inspire others to live a healthy life.

Love

My life would not be complete without the love of my family.  We are a very close family and I cherish my time with those I love.  I will be sharing things about my family and things I have found helpful during my parenting journey.

Now, a very important disclaimer.  I am not a health/nutrition/fitness expert.  What I share will be things that have interested, inspired, or worked for me, or something that I am thinking of trying.  I am not a parenting expert.  Again, I will be sharing things that are interesting to me or working for my family.  I am not a professional writer by any means!!  I am not perfect….nobody is.  Social media can be tough because on facebook, instagram, twitter, blogs, etc we share the best parts of our lives.  We share when our kids do something spectacular at school or score the winning goal at their game.  We share the clean parts of our homes.  We share when our spouse does something romantic and sweet.  We share when we go on fancy vacations.  We share about job promotions.  We share about expensive things we buy.  And the list goes on and on.  I am not saying I don’t want to read about the good things going on in the lives of other family and friends.  I do want to hear those things!  It is just that sometimes social media gives us a warped sense of reality.  Yes, I am guilty of sharing good parts of my life on social media.  Yes, I have a beautiful life.  I have three wonderful kids that I love with every fiber of my being.  I have an amazing husband who loves me and is the best daddy to my babies.  But, my life gets messy.  My kids have thrown tantrums.  My kids whine at times, fight with one another, and get on each other’s nerves.  They make mistakes and have to be disciplined.  My husband and I have disagreements.  There have been times we have broken the marital cardinal rule and gone to bed mad!  My house is not always as clean as I would like.  I worry about everything.  Although I love nutrition and fitness, I get in funks sometimes and eat junk or go for a chunk of time without exercising (one of the main reasons I  am writing this blog is to help me stay more accountable!).  I write this disclaimer so you know I am just a normal girl, mom, and wife trying to make the most of this life I have been blessed with.

So you may be thinking, “If you are not an expert in anything you will be writing about, then why are you starting a blog?”  Honestly , I am starting a blog as a way to journal about my life and help hold me accountable for living a healthy life.  I began this blog so that I can have a little place to creatively write and to share ideas and things that interest me.  I recently became a consultant with Thirty-One Gifts, so I will occasionally share about that as well.  I may not be an expert on anything, but I am a great friend.  So, I hope as you read my blog you can picture us sitting on a beautiful wooden porch swing sipping iced tea and talking as friends.  Or, maybe it is a nice glass of wine….I am game either way, friend!
